How many miles do you have? Yeah, #8 is a tough one. I removed the coil packs and wished I had of completey removed and left out the bolt on the very back of the coil pack bracket. I'll get it next time. After that removing the Air hose made life sssooo much better on the pasenger side. I had to consult with installuniversity.com for the best route. I stared at the mess for 10 minutes before I left it and got on that website . Good luck on your tune and happy hunting afterwards

ditto. If anyone has any write-ups or pictures on how to change the fuel filter for the f-bodys that would be great. I checked ls1howto.com and did not find any info on fuel filters. Thanks!

well, this may not be the "proper"way of changing the filter out but heres a shot. I shade tree'd this like a ****. Be wary of stored fuel pressure in the lines. Even after my car sat all down the pressure was still i the lines and can squirt into eyeballs (all most got me). Under the hood there is a pressure relief valve near the fuel rails/ regulator. you can reduce the line pressure by pushing down on it like a tire valve. just be carefull and have a rag over it. It helps some but i didnt do that step. The filter is on the driver side undercarage about two feet from the back tire. Its a small canister about 5 inches long. The fuel line in front of it is secured to the filter by two opposing fittings/nuts. I dont remember the sizes (someone help me out here if ya know) but i used two cresent wrenches. the nut thats attached to the filter is a little bigger than the line nut. The line to the back of the filter just has a clip in harness. press in the tab and pull it apart to remove it. I loosened the nuts up front first a little to slowly release the fuel pressure. about a 2/3 pint will come out including whats in the filter. then i finished taking the fittings off and drained the filter out. then unsnapped the harness inthe back and the filter will slid out now. the new filter slips into the holding band that held the old one and it goes through the front. then just refasten the harness in the back up and connect the fuel line to the new filter and tighten it up. start er up and check for leaks. Done. Sorry for the long winded speech. Its very easy and once you get under the car and see it it'll be self explainitory.

I can't believe how many have the same issue at the same RPM range....

I have it at times too.

I've got about 58k. I bought the car at 52k and that flat spot has been getting progressively worse.

Fuel filter sounds easy enough.

Removing coil packs for the plugs....sounds a little intimidating, but if anyone has a link to a good comprehensive plug how-to, that'd be great. Pics would be a bonus.

Whats the flat spot you guys are talking about. Changing the fuel filter is pretty easy. I used to do it every third oil change when I gave a crap about the car. Now its old and just keep around cause its paid for. I hope for something to re-start my love for it but nothings working.

Fortunately a simple tune-up usually cures it.....fuel filter, plugs, wires...should be gone....I'll let ya know, I'm doing that as soon as I get home because I can't deal with this damn flat spot any longer!!

Gotcha covered bro, I used installuniversity.com. They have several good write ups including a plug change for our cars, FRA, and other free mods. They used a pic per paragragh . They even suggest the tools used like what extensions, socket sizes, ect. pretty thourough write up. Basically you are going to remove the plug wires, remove the air hose going to exhaust manifold, then its something around 5 or 6 /10-mm bolts holding down the coil packs. all is easy except the bolt in the very back. I could only manage to loosen it and wish i could have removed it permantly. slip the coil packs over and the plugs are exposed and naked! <except #8. Next time yo change plugs will be a breeze! good luck.

ETA: good writeup. I've heard it's easier to get to #8 from the bottom? Thoughts?

No, it that has nothing to do with it. The car needs a new paint job. The clear coat is chipping on the front bumper. My brother chipped the paint off my rear bumper. I recently put alot of torque twists/dents on the body. The A/C is out. There's a hole on one of the lines. My tint is all faded and peeling off. My matts are torn. My rack and pinion is leaking fluid. I need the fender roller. My head lights are hazed. AGAIN! MY seat is ripped. Thats about it for now. Thats why I've lost the love for her. I won't divorce her. I just think we need to find the spark. I've put alot money on her and time. I don't want to trade her in for a new Camaro lady.
