Themostat Help Please.... I got a 1997 Trans am...I was out riding around and it started getting hot, and the thermostat light came on...so I changed the thermostat and it don't get hot but the light wont go off...anybody know what to do???
There is no thermostat light, I think you are thinking of the low coolant light. There is a coolant level sensor in the back of the radiator about four inches below the cap. If your radiator is full and this light still comes on the sensor is bad. You can drain the coolant down below the sensor, pull it out and replace it (it's about $50) or you can just unplug it and the light on the dash will go out.
FYI - if you drain and refill the coolant for any reason (IE thermostat replacement) you need to bleed the air out of the cooling system. See your owners manual for info on how to do this.
