water pump question

water pump question my car is running hotter than normal around 230 i would say as oppose to the 180 from a week ago. Starting to smell some coolant also. when i touch the hoses going to the water pump the top one is hot but the bottom one is cool, however the lines going to the heater core are also hot. is this normal or is my pump going?

that would be the second time i replace the thermostat! the only reason i believed it could be the water pump is because i have a noise like a bearing going out from somewhere in the front. gonna have to tak e a look at it this weekend. any other suggestions/ideas would be helpful.
