Default Idle problems

On my '95 Z28, when I start it up or come to a stop it idles at 500rpms and feels like its about to die. When I start to drive it goes away and drives fine. Any ideas?

sounds like the same problem i'm having with my ls1, but mine drops below 500rpm to about maybe 400 and feels like the car shuts off but it doesn't. I changed my fuel filter yesterday and though maybe it would be an easy fix. But no dice still having the problem. with me it only happens when the car has sat for a while or it first started up for the day, but doesn't do it all the time. I priced an idler control, at autozone cause I think that maybe the problem but they want 100 bones for one. hopefully someone will chime in with some info lol.

its probably your idle air control, take it off and clean it and put it back to see what it does.Do you have your check engine light on?

I just cleaned the iac off, it was pretty dirty hopefully this fixes my problem. My check engine light wasn't on, I don't know about the poster.

+1 on the idle air control. That always seems to be the culprit for idle problems.
