Default Steering Column Interchange

I have a steering column from a 2001 Trans Am A4. I have a '94 Trans Am that needs one. Can the steering columns be swapped without issue? I know I'll run into VATS issues, but other than that? Airbag connectors hook up? Also curious if the VATS wiring may be different since I believe the 94 uses a VATS module and the '01 went to the BCM.

They are close. I am going to say you are going to have to do some small swaps or ordering.

I have a PDF I could email you if you want to try to retrofit one to the other. They aren't much diff from looking at the exploded diagrams but I am willing to bet the VATS and Airbag connectors are different.

I'd appreciate that. I'm likely just going to do a VATS bypass. myformula400@hotmail.com

Better yet! I found it online again!

http://www.bowlingss.com/93-02_Camaro_Parts_Manual.pdf

Look on page 920 for the old style and page 925 for the new style.

If you can print off those pages you could match up what parts are different. Order what you need if they don't work.

There is no difference. It will bolt right up and all connectors are the same. And although the VATTS system uses different electrics in the two years, they both still use the same ignition lock. You will need to transfer that from your old comumn to the new one so you have a key with the right resistance value for your VATTs.
