Default A different type of headlight problem...

Everyone knows the usual headlight problems that are associated with firebirds, the grinding etc... but I seem to be having a new problem. If the headlight is up and cover is off, and you can look down inside you can see the two plastic tabs that the headlight arm hits when its closed and opened. On my drivers side headlight, when I close the light, the metal arm breaks past the plastic pad holding it back, so my headlight doesnt fully close all the way. I've tried numerous times to fix this by bending, pulling, etc and they seem to only work temporarily. Does anyone know of a decent fix for this, or even what the hell im talking about?
