Default Gas Gauge Problem

I have a Question about my cars fuel ingnition system beacuse I am having a problem with my fuel gauge. My Fuel gauge is starting to give me false readings when i turn it on my gauge tends to go all the way to the full mark or empty mark sometimes my "check gauges" light turns on... only after awhile the gauge returns to the correct mark... I think... Was wondering if you guys can help me get my car back to normal.

Mine has done the same thing for a couple of years now. Most of the time mine reads empty. I don't even pay attention to it anymore

O'Reily's is the same part. ~200.00 dollars. Lifetime warranty.
