weird cold startup problem...
weird cold startup problem... So it's only been happening the past few days when its been cold down here in Houston. After the car sits overnight it acts up when I try to start it. It doesn't want to stay running, I have to keep my foot in the gas. The trip odometer is reset, but I dont lose the radio stations. The tach jumps around all funny and all the dash lights do a light show, flashing on and off. Once I can get it to stay running, the idle will stay at 1600 rpms. I can turn it off, turn it back on, and then it works fine. WTF?!?! Any clues? Just annoying at this point, but I'd like to solve it.

Trip reset and gauge sweep on the 99 cars happens sometimes with low battery voltage. Sounds like you're experiencing something similar, along with a possible idle relearn too? First thing I'd do is check the battery connections, then have it load tested - if nothing else it'll eliminate that as an issue.
My car was doing the exact same thing like 2 years ago. I went to the dealership and they replaced the battery and battery cables which were corroded real bad. Start with the simple things first. Just a thought
Ok, I pulled both cables off. The negative was corroded a little bit, so i cleaned it off. I am still having this starting issue. I has only started since I swapped over to the t56 and it got super cold outside. Another probably unrelated issue, my security light is on constantly. This happened after the a4->m6 swap. Any ideas?? It's starting to get very annoying having to go through it every morning.
