Fuse for tail-lights keeps blowing. This isn't for my T/A, rather a 97 Silverado, but it's a common problem that could happen to most any car and have always gotten great answers here in the past. Anyway, the truck is tip-top for the most part, minor problems here and there but real solid. Recently I was driving down the road and hit a small bump and the dash lights went out, also causing the tail-lights to go out as well. The vehicle normally has daytime running lights and it lets you know when they're on by a small green symbol. When I turn the headlight switch to on, it disapeers and also comes on when I turn the switch to off, just like normal. It did blow a fuse so I replaced that and they began working again but only for a short time, before it blew again. I don't know if it has a short in it or if too much current is being pushed through, etc. I just started hearing a small chatter and squeaking that I suspect is the alternator getting ready to go bad. I was thinking that if the alternator is going bad, possibly pushing through too much current more than just this single fuse would blow, is this a correct assumption? Anyway, I'm a bit stumped and would appreciate any help. Not sure if this information will help but it's a 97 Silverado 1500 extended cab long bed with 4 wheel drive. Approximately 90,000 miles on a 350 Vortec.
