Like the tile says. My 99 t/a with the monsoon cd h/u will unmute whenever i turn my park lights on or off.

I also have a weird electronic hum come from under my passenger dash after about 1 minute of shutting the engine off. Radio is still playing the whole time and the hum only lasts about 3 seconds.

Should i just assume poltergeist and call it a day?

Last time this happened to me I had a squirrel under the dash, might check for those.

Poltergeist sounds more logical.

I kind of thought this would be a hard one to answer.

I should do a poll between squirells and spoltergeist

Other than being a little annoying, im just wondering if this little quirk will be the first of many......

Your parking lights are separate from your radio's circuit, so they are probably not related. I'd guess that its probably more related to your gauge/radio backlights, which are energized at the same time your parking lights turn on.

The only place I have a mute button is on my steering wheel controls. The mute button is soldered to a hand-made board in the switch casing, which is in close proximity to the backlight circuit.

I would suggest you start by removing the airbag over the steering wheel, turn on the radio, then mute it. While muted, disconnect the radio controls at the plug behind the airbag and see if the radio keeps its mute. If it does, you can then turn on the lights and see if the problem remains.


Not sure why anyone needs the mute button anyway... I only turn my radio up louder.
