Default Vapor canister vent valve/solenoid

I noticed from my search that this vent valve is on top of the gas tank. Do I have to remove the gas tank to install it or can I drop the tank down a little and reach up in there to change it. I have a watts link and it is a real pain to remove it.So how do I replace it?

Looks maybe possible to get to it by lowering the tank a bit. If you are able to get some pliers over that clamp blindly removing and installing I can see it possible, otherwise you're going to have to drop it. You might be able to unload the suspension and unbolt the main bracket for the watts link and while letting it hang there might be enough space to drop the tank enough.
