Default Any way to clear up a cloudy headlight

I had a 2002 Chevy Venture and I know this was a common complaint on that car.

Is this common after they changed from the square headlights? My passenger side lense is all clouded over in the inside. It looks like a sealed enclosure so I can't even get into it to try to clean it up.

I'm not really thrilled about the halo lamps as a replacement. And the friggin cost on a stock replacement if just insane.

Can anything be done?

I've had some luck with this site. Other people who bought headlights seemed to like them and state that they cost about half as much as OEM stuff.

Another option is a cleaning solution. I bought a kit on Ebay a while ago for like $10. I ended up crushing the car that I planned to use it on so I don't have any results.

my buddy wiped WD40 on his avenger's and they looked brand new. The cloudiness came back a week or two later but it takes 5 seconds to do

Kinda figured that, thought maybe someone had managed something in the past.

If it is on the inside my guess is that the bulbs are to hot and heating the plastic up and discoloring it. maybe pulling them apart and sanding them down but this will entail alot of work. To disassemble follow the same directions and the "Whistler mod" search that it might help you in getting in there to fix it.

if you sand it you will need to get some quality plastic polishes and clean them up really good. Best of luck to you

I'd say that the wet sand and polish technique is the best and most effective way to clean up your headlights.

I cleaned mine up by starting off with a 400 grit wetsanding paper to a 800 than 1500. After the 1500, I used Meguiars Plastic X with a Mother Mini Powerball and after 10 minutes of polishing (5 minutes each headlight), they were as good as new.

Hope this helps out ...
