Throttle body.....spring?
Throttle body.....spring? My car has an issue with wanting to idle at about 1300 rpm. If you give it a quick punch of the throttle in neutral itll drop back down around 800 or so and stay there. My dad and I looked into it and found that the throttle isn't coming all the way back to its resting spot when you let off the gas. It doesnt appear to be getting stuck on anything, it just doesnt pull back all the way. I was kinda wondering if the spring (or whatever it is exactly) is worn out and isnt very capable of pulling it back all the way. Im hoping its an easy fix and i really dont want to get an entirely new throttle body just because of this. We hit it with some wd40 and that worked for just a little while, but soon it was right back to being annoying. Any ideas?
There should be a fair amount of resistance when you try to open it up by hand, nothing crazy, but enough that it won't just flop open. Maybe your spring is worn out, maybe you just need to disassemble and clean, maybe your TB blade isn't exactly centered. I've taken my blade off before, when I put it back it never shut right again, even after adjusting many times. I ended up chamfering the edge slightly, with sandpaper, to get it to shut right. If your spring is worn out you might want to try to wind it one or two more times and see if that does the trick, although I suggest a thorough cleaning first
