As far as halogen bulbs, i would have to say HIRs. They are supposed to produce the most light out of any halogen, and still use stock voltage. I recently put them in and they are better than the Silverstars i had in my other car. They are supposed to last much longer than Silverstars and those type of bulbs.

Left is 9012 HIR; Right is standard 9006
~6ft from the wall. They light up the whole road so much better.

Im assuming TAs have 9006 for low beams and 9005 for high beams like Camaros. HIRs only work on those. You just have to trim the top tab, its easy.

If its just the lens that have faded go to advance auto or auto zone. They sell a kit that allows you to polish the lens to like new condition. Then put those expensive bulbs in .

The 1998-2002 Firebird uses older style sealed beam headlight bulbs (4703 low, 4701 high) instead of the newer style small bulb/capsule.

Check out the Lighting FAQ for more info.

* There are only a couple options in the original size. The best still in production is Sylvania XtraVision.
* You can buy (or make) conversion housings and install H7 or H4 bulbs.
* You can go completely custom and retrofit projectors
