Default Parking light question

Does anyone know why my right parking light only comes on when my headlights are up?

Whenever they're down (during the day) the parking light is off

You might need to change the bulb.

Are you talking about the marker light on the side of the fender or the turn signal light on the bumper?

Your new bulb may also be bad. Suggest switching your left and right bulbs to make sure.

Turn signal light thing on the front bumper (V6 model)

I took it off, put it back on and it works normally for a couple of hours, later on in the day it stops

It may sound like its loose or something, but whenever i turn the headlights on then the parking light is working back to normal

Anyone have an idea?

It could be your Daytime Running Lamp Module. It controls your parking lights when your headlight switch is off and/or the turn signals are on. The DRL Module controls the left and right sides independently and is also solid state - so it could also be impacted by heating up.

There are two filaments in the bulb. One is illuminated when the headlights are on and the other is controlled by the DRL module. (The DRL Module sits between your bulb and the turn signal imputs.)

What kind of car do you have? (Firebirds and Camaros have slightly different wiring.)

When you have the parking light problem again, can you check your turn signals and hazard flashers to see if they work normally? If so, do they work normally with the headlights turned on also?

make sure your ground is OK too. My friend's old car (not a fbody but was a gm so possibly similar wiring) had the ground go bad which made it do something similar to that.
