Default t/a headlight connection ?

my headlight motor quit working about a week ago after unplugging the connection I found that one of the prongs had broken off and was stuck in the female side of the connection. I believe that corrosion caused it to break off or stop working and when I pulled the plug it broke off completely. My question is can I just cut and splice the wires together without the plug. There are five on each side and I figure it should work but i wanted to ask before i did this. By the way the motor was not making any noise at all when the lights were turned off and on. The light itself still works it just will not go up and down.
