Ignition problem
That's odd. The key should be held captive by the lock until it's turned back all the way. Although, depending on the cut pattern on your key, it could still be a key-wear issue.
Is this a recent development? I assume your steering wheel won't lock either? Did you try a spare key to see if it works any better? (My lock has been really fickle and requires a new key every 30K or so.)
