another one of fords bright ideas. i get the pleasure of fixing them all day. i beleive it actually has something to do with emissions. trying to make sure all fuel is burned off or something along those lines. silly ford.

thenascar is correct. Ford had to add 4 more plugs just so it can pass emissions.

honestly the burn will be a hair cleaner but not worth the hassle, and it was also something to brag about back in the day about ford thinking they were freakin genious' and they were only retarded

Cause Ford can't getting spark plugs right anymore. In pre-04 5.4L engines they had a problem with plugs shooting out of the heads cause there wasn't enough threads. Then you go to the 5.4L in my truck and the SOB's break off in the head cause they came up with a dumbass two piece plug design. Carbon builds up the section below the threads and gets wedged in the head. Guess what Ford has changed the heads and plug design as of 10/9/07 cause they knew they screwed the original up and what have they done so far for owners like me that have the **** poor design....nothing.

here is the brilliant design: http://www.autolite.com/products/revolutionHT.php

Sorry for the rant but anytime i here spark plugs and Ford I get a little pissed.
