A/C Drain?

Default A/C Drain?

soo my opti craped out and i started the proces of tearing into the car to get at it, only to find out i need to drain the A/C system...#$@& #%^$ #$#% %#$^. is there any way i can drain it in the driveway?? os should i try and limp the car to a shop to get it drained (will driving it hurt the car in this case?)

Against the law to dump Freon into the atmosphere. You must go to a shop and have it evacuated and contained.

noted. now for the other questions i asked

is there any kit i can buy to do it at home?? or do i need put it all back together and limp it to a shop *will doing this hurt the motor??*

No you can't do it at home.

You can drive it with no freon, the pressure switches will keep it off.

You also need to take care to seal the lines with tape when you disconnect anything, to keep ambient air out of the system.

If this is a '94 you're talking about you could have either 134a or R12refrigerant. Vehicles with a production date before 1/94 might have R12, after 1/94 have to have 134a.
So if your door sticker says it was manufactured in '93 you may need to prepare for a conversion when you get ready to charge it back up. Be sure they replace the drier and pull a vacuum on the system before charging it.

got it drained at home, local guy came and did it, dont worrie he caned it(r134a)

GOT THE OPTI OFF!!!!!!

on the spline it runs on, there is a yellow mark on it, dose this have any thing to do with TDC? or am i still gunna have to pull a plug and get it all sorted out???
