Need a part number
Its really no use buying a new one, because it will probably just break again.I fixed the one on my 99, made of ABS plastic - which can be glued. (If you take your ring out, you should see "ABS" molded in to the part.) If you go to a larger Home Cheapo, you can get a small can of ABS Cement. (Sold to bond ABS pipes.) If you can't find it at your local home store, specialty plumbing suppliers will definitely have it. (You may have a harder time finding it in CA, because its on the dreaded California Cancer list. If so, you can order it from MSCDirect through the mail - but they will only sell a big can of it.)
I suggest first using the cement to glue just the break and then let it dry. You can then go back and put a fillet of cement around the repair to further reinforce it. (Any glue not touching the plastic will take longer to dry.) My crack was around a compound bend in the part, so I also reinforced the fillet with a cut piece of a paper clip, which worked great to further strengthen the repair.
I've removed the boot on numerous occasions over the past 4 years, and the weld is still holding strong.
