so today i was getting on it, and i started to notice a coolant smell. so i pop the hood and there is coolant all over my engine and hood. so i went through the process and there were no hoses broken. so my question is can a leaking water pump spew coolant all over the engine bay? if not what do you guys think the problem is?

myine went out last weekend. while idling...i added water and could see it dripping out from under the water pump pulley
