Default Stupid Spark Plug Wire Removal Question

Ok..so I have owned 6 LS1 cars and none's ever had enough miles to need a spark plug change...until now. I just bought a higher mile (120,000) 98 TA for the wife to drive and want to change the plugs and wires on it.

SO my simple question before I get started is does the little heat sheilds at the spark plug boot come off with the wires or does it stay on some how? If it stays how do you get it off. I thinking it should pull off with the wires but I just want to be sure. Also when I go back with MSD wires those sheilds are not used..right?

Thanks.

yeah they come off with the wire. I think you can use them on the MSD but I am not sure. I think they should just slip off the wire and onto the new ones.

Yup they come off with the wires. Just pull like hell, bust a few knuckles and leave them off the MSD wires. They are made of silicon and you don't need them.

It's optional. You don't need to use them with MSD wires but I do.
