I had some exhaust banging under my car(Y pipe hitting driveshaft safety loop).. Simple fix for me was wrapping those areas with header wrap and a couple clamps.. Took care of all my banging sounds..

You can try that bumpstop. Do you have poly motor mounts?

^^^ Same here. I had that problem with my Pacesetter Y-pipe so I just put some high-temp heater hose in between the pipe and the floorboard. You can feel it in the shifter, but at least it doesn't bang. And it's only a temporary fix until I replace the factory engine mounts with something more solid...

The bumpstop was a waste of money for me, I had to put in poly motor mounts which solved the problem 100%

Mine was banging often so we put spacers on the crossmember where it was banging but when my car is on an incline it still bangs. Not sure what to do.

Heater hose will give you a quick temporary fix. I put poly motor mounts in mine to get rid of it.

Do the motor mounts bring the motor down a bit and therefore prevent it from hitting the floorboard?

They're not as "flimsy" as the stock rubber ones, so they hold the engine in place better. That's all. You reuse the stock metal clamshell that goes around the mount. Drill out the rivets in the shell, pop out the rubber stockers, put in the poly's, bolt it back together. Mine work great.

So the motor mounts being flimsy is causing everything to move and bang into the floorboard?

A poly transmission mount was the trick for me. ...cheap and effective.

The banging drove me crazy (no pun intended)!

Every person I've ever talked to who used that bump stop said it worked for **** and ended up just using some rubber hose and/or installing stiffer motor mounts....

Motor mount replacement is not easy or cheap. A poly transmission mount is cheap, way easy, and effective for the y-pipe bang issue.

I did them one at a time. I did the drivers side first and it worked real well for a couple of weeks, then it started banging again under hard acceleration. After I put the other one on the problem was totally fixed. They are NOT fun to install, but there are worse things you could be doing.
