If you have a spun bearing the oil pressure will be way down and you WILL absolutely have a whole bunch of aluminum shavings in you're oil (looks like the metallic in paint).

Also I have no luck with quieting down my tick. I have been driveling it and have had no problems and the car run's great. When I get the time I am going to pull the head's and replace the lifters and lifter trays.

Take a look at the pic attached. Look at the mileage. The description is BS I told them it made the noise all the time.
This all started when I did my first oil change (bought it used), and it still makes the same exact noise to this day.

Get it tuned up, could be a PC problem, do it before you dump a buncha time and effort into something.

Do you have headers on the car? It could be a blown manifold (exhaust) gasket, or one thats not sealed properly anymore

It could also be your oil pick-up tube O-ring the part that connects to the oil pump

if you spun a bearing is it a hard fix? or even if you bent a rod/lifter??

I do not have headers and have never had the exhaust manifolds off the car. I have checked for leaks and am pretty sure the noise is not coming from an exhaust leak and I tightened the bolts just to be sure. I have never had the oil pump out and have steady, strong oil pressure so I guess it could possibly be the problem, but from what I read it is due to improperly installing the oil pump. Oh and a spun bearing requires pulling the motor to fix but a broken rocker can be fixed in the car and is and not very hard at all.

Well here is the update....

I did almost everything; I installed new LS7 lifters, Hardened push rods. LS6 valve springs and GM MLS head gaskets and made sure the converter bolts and the exhaust was not leaking in any way. All of this work and the noise is 100% unchanged so I decided to switch from Mobil 1 to Royal Purple 5w30 and that did not make a dimes worth of difference. I ran the car at the track and it went 12.1 at 110 with a 1.80 60ft witch everyone thinks it run good for an incomplete bolt on car. I guess I am just never going to be able to sell this car and just drive the **** out of this thing tell it breaks but I am not going any deeper into the motor. Any thoughts?

Im having a ticking sound on my newly installed LS1 on a 240sx, but my sound goes, then comes back and goes at no specific rpm, so Im gussing something went into my engine in the install, although I never openned the engine at all...

My problem is that I've started to hear this sound right after I installed my exhaust... but I don't know if its due to decrease in the loud noise of the engine with open headers that didn't allow me to hear the ticking sound before, or if its something from the exhaust...

So did torquing them down in sequence stop your ticking.
