Using a jackstand with ramps is useless. If the car isn't resting on the stand it's going to roll down the ramp or tip over sideways, by the time it hits the stand it's just going to tip it over.

The worst experience I had with ramps is pulling a valve body off and having the linkage move the parking pawl out. The car rolled back a few inches before hitting the wheel chock.
can you even see the tire/ramp with your head out the window?

Where are jack stands, ramps and floor jacks made today?

China; right? Sure these are designed to take the weight, but their dog food was not designed to kill millions of our pets either! Trust a Chinese ramp, floor jack, jack stand, etc. and you may be "flat" out of luck!

apparently anything other than a hole dug in the ground (and a trench box) is not good enough for you

Now you've kinda freaked me out with all the mental images of having my head pinned to the ground by the headers.

Heres a short video, take one because it was getting dark. I could have kept doing it until I got it perfect, but this was a quick set up and go, just for this thread.

No I leave the door shut to lean on it. If I do it with the door open it blocks my view and makes me feel unstable.

Meaning that 10,000 random Chinese people deserve to die because some Chinese made products are of inferior quality?

wanna hear something as funny as this thread is getting. A friend of mine....his father has tree triming service. His dad brought home these two badass stumps he pulled pout of someones yard. They are about 2 feet in diameter and about 2 feet high. Perfectly flat cut on the bottom so its planted on the ground, even if the car rolls backwards they cannot tip over like jack stands or a jack can. No welds to break, no seals to leak or blow. And they can easily support 10,000 pounds, each. They weigh like 50 pounds but slide across his garage floor with one finger pushing them.

Thats what he uses under his car for safety jack stands. He's got two hydraulic floor jacks to get the car up.

I don't have the SFCs, but ramps work just fine with my M6. Mine are some cheapo Wallmart jobs with plastic extenders that clear my ground effects. I usually put the ramps right up against the tires and then have someone watch as I drive up. Once or twice and you'll be a pro... I've seen jackstands tip and jacks fail.... Hydraulic lifts can fail for that matter too.

My ramps are idiot proof, once the car is on them it isn't going anywhere. That's good for the idiot crawling underneath (me).

If you have two jack stands and a jack, why would you have to ever lift at the K or diff?

Just do it on one side, install a jackstand, then lift the other side and install the other jackstand. The car is now safely in the air, you can work on anything just like lifting at the k or diff.
