I need some help
I need some help I have a 01 SS and the service vehicle light stays on. This is not the service engine soon light and I have been told it will take a combination of pumping the brake, gas pedles and turning the car on and off to turn the light off. All the dealerships services are closed for the weekend out here so they are no help. Does anyone know what needs to be done to turn this light off? Please help if you can. Thanks.
You will have to get the car scanned with a scan tool to see what the code(s) are so you can fix the problem. A generic scan tool typically wont communicate with the BCM to pull these codes so you may have to take it to a shop that has a more advanced scan tool to pull the codes. I've never heard of a method to clear the codes other than clearing them with the scan tool.
Do you mean the oil change light? To turn that off, turn the key on (engine off) and push the throttle to the floor three times, this resets the oil life monitor. Don't forget to get your oil changed.
