Default Low Coolant Light

My low coolant light came on a little while ago and I thought it might just be low for some reason or that I had a leak. I checked the level and it is fine and has stayed that way for about a week. I've disconnected the battery and hoped that it was just a glitch, but it stays on all the time now. Anyone have this problem or know how to solve it? I have a 99 T/A H/C with bolt-ons, and this is getting on my nerves. Thanks for any help you can offer.

Thanks...I just unplugged it. I know my fluids are high enough, and I'll buy a new one when I get a chance.

I had a similar problem with my '95 LT1 and it turned out that my water pump was going bad. Unfortunately I found that out the hard way when I blew a head gasket and tore the motor apart. Hopefully you don't have the same problem and it is just a bad sensor, but you never know.

I wouldn't want that to happen. I'm going to have it serviced before too long. Hopefully it's nothing severe like that though.

It might just be some air bubbles. You have to be sure to bleed the coolant system properly.

Sorry to jack the thread but I am having the same problem on my 99 t/a, but don't know what the sensor looks like or how to take it out to clean it. Can anyone help? found some pics of LT1s thru the search, but no LS1s yet.

Thanks

The sensor is on the passenger side of the radiator, down about a foot...maybe less. You can unplug it, or replace it. I haven't replaced mine, but will soon. Hope that helps you.

Replacing it is just a waste of time as it will most certainly do it again. Just disconnect it. Mine went after only 3000 miles and the rad had never been opened.

Yea, as long as your liquid levels are fine, you should be okay with just unplugging it.

My levels are fine, but if its only 30 bucks then I'll just spend the money for a new one...but my question is do I have to worry about fluids coming out when I remove the plug or will I be fine without draining the radiator fluid to remove the sensor. I would like to try and clean it first...but I do not want to remove it in the garage if its going to spill stuff everywhere.
