Default Weird Window Noise

I have a weird clunking/grinding sound when I roll the window down from a fully up position or up from the fully down position. It seems to only happen when the car is hot from the heat. I suppose its metal touching metal somewhere and the metal is moving due to it expanding because of the heat? I had my car in the garage for a day and rolled them down and nothing, but got back in it after it sat out in the heat for 3 hours and it made the noise. It’s mostly the driver, sometimes the passenger.

Anyone else have these problems or can suggest something? The car only has 14K miles on it, hopefully it isn't anything serious.

Thanks.

Check to make sure your regulator is tight to the door and the motor is tight to the regulator. If one is loose, you can get a lot of movement and commotion.

Does the noise only happen in one place or does it keep going on through the full motion?

It doesn't do it through the whole motion of the window going down just when i put it down from the fully up position or up from the fully down position.

Thanks for the help.

At what point do you get the noise? When the window is all the way down?

If so, you might check the bumper that the window rests on to make sure its in right. If you take off the door panel and take out the door speaker, you should see a rubber bumper towards the front of the door. The glass rests on this when its all the way down. The bumper locks in a slot cut in to the bottom of the door. If its out of place, it can make a dull thud.

You could also have a loose regulator. With the door panel off, watch the regulator rivets/bolts and make sure they don't move when you hear the noise.
