have 2002 ss with turbo had a shop check the charge on my a/c so the guy says I will have to recover the refrigerant qand evacuate the system (terms I understand because I was an a/c tech for home and commercial) but then it seems to have made the situation worse so I talk to a guy today and he says I have a vacuum problem and it is causing it to not maintain cooling. Ithought these ran off an electric signal not vacuum? I want to make sure I take it to some one who knows what they are doing. any help would be greatly appreciated...
I had mine done yesturday and they vacumm tested it for leak down before adding refrigerant. Maybe thats what he was referring to. My A/C is ice gold now There are o-ring seals behind the compressor and elsewhere that may have gone bad to cause a leak.

yea the guys who recharged it already put it on the vacuum to recharge it and it still does it.
A turbo pressurizes the intake manifold, all the AC controls inside the car operate on vacuum servos to direct air to the vents, floor, defrost, etc.
With a turbo you have no vacuum to control these servos off the intake.
Doesn't sound like a refrigeration problem, it's lack of vacuum to the servos.

well the a/c shop says there is a slight leak on one of the seals on the compressor and the clutch is bad so that's why it was kicking out at higher rpm's so getting new compressor accummulator and orifice tube or something. 1100.00 bucks later there goes the methanol kit this month.
