Too much oil and it won't cool as well. If you just put refrigerant in without using a vacuum pump it won't cool as well.
So there are two things taking away from your AC systems performance.

You shouldn't need oil, just pull a vacuum and put the proper refrigerant charge in it.

You need a manifold gauge set and a vacuum pump. Don't waste your money putting refrigerant in an empty system without using a vacuum pump on it first. I mean an electric motor powered pump, not a hand held pump.

You do need to add oil after vacuuming. A car loses about 2 oz. of oil during recovery and vacuuming.

A vacuum pump will not remove oil from the system, only vapor

Very true. People see oil buildup around the exhaust port of the pump, it's the vacuum pump oil.

Vacuuming? It's called evacuation to avoid confusion.
It's looses ABOUT 2 oz. So what do you put ABOUT 2 oz back in?

In this peticular post the guy broke the vacuum line, there was no recovery, no oil is lost during evacuation, so Don't add oil.
