Default Leaking oil and trans fluid...What to replace?

So my car has a small leak in the rear that is not from the diff and fluid is hanging from the torque arm bolts in the rear. The fluid is black so i am assuming it is the pinion seal. but i am not sure? The undercarriage is filthy and has trans fluid under there as well. The drive shaft also has some oil on it. Can you guys tell me what you think i need to replace? And how much it will cost?

Thanks

pinion seal and if there is trans fluid(atf) on the d.s. i would say you also have a bad output shaft seal also. probably would cost you a couple hours in labor if you were to have someone do them both at the same time. you could do it yourself they arent that hard to replace and you only need simple tools.

Thanks for the help. So its for sure a pinion seal and now i need to pinpoint the trans fluid leak. There is no atf on the ds its just on the under carriage under the front seat area. I was thinking it might be a leak from the seal thats in between the end transmission and the start of the ds. Is there a seal there? I was just taking a guess

As he said output shaft seal is probably seaping,

Your car lowered, non adjustable torque arm?

Your pinion angle may be off causing these issues. I wouldn't recommend attacking the pinion seal. There are a few steps (such as setting pinion depth) that I'm going to assume you won't be able to tackle.

Driveshaft comes out @ the rear first with 4 bolts. Mark the driveshaft position before removing and slide it out of the trans.

You'll need a seal puller or carefull hands with a flat blade screw driver and hammer to get the seal out. Then you'll need to press it back in with either the appropriate tool, or very very carefully with a sizeable socket + hammer.

My car is not lowered and it has the stock torque arm. I like to do most of my own work but i will not attempt to replace these seals. Thanks for the helpful advice.
So the output shaft seal and pinion seal need to be replaced. I'll have to have my shop take a look at it next week. Thanks

Thats the best thing you can do. Pinion angle may be off from the factory as well.

It's a rare occasion to see a 4th gen with a factory 10 bolt that doesnt leak from the pinion seal.

Good luck!
