Help, Rear End Noise 98 Z28 6-speed, making awful rear end noise. Mismatch tires sized: 315/35/17 Rear and 275/40/17 Front. Does this affect traction control or cause any disturbance in rear end? I.E seems as though noise is not present with ASR OFF.
Numerically both tires have the same overall diameter. (25.6") One is just wider than the other. I can't see how that would cause a problem. If the tires were 2 different diameters, then I'd say yes... especially if you have 4 channel abs, because one tire would turn faster than the other, thus causing abs or traction control to kick in, trying to fix the difference in wheel speed.
I'm not familiar with GM's ABS or ASR system's. Although all manufacturers achieve the same result, i.e. free a locked up wheel when braking, or control excessive wheel spin.
