Default Battery died: New battery, idle problems?!

So I went to start my car today and everything had power but wouldn't crank. I got a new battery and the car started right up. But here's the thing now -- my idle is acting strange. Before, the car's idle was always dead set on 750-800rpms at neutral (car's an M6 btw). As soon as I started the car the idle was real low around 400 rpms. I figured it was just the computer resettting to the battery or something. Anyway, I took it out for about 5 minutes and whenever I drop to neutral it will go to like 400 rpms and then hunt back up to 500.

This car never had any problems for me, can anyone help me out?

It may take more than 5 minutes to relearn. Any mods that needed tuning?

I was hoping it was only a matter of relearning the idle. Car is on stock tune and my only real mods are a lid, catback and slp y-pipe.

might sound crazy, but check your Negative cable and make sure it is tight all the way on there. I just got back from iraq and had to replace my battery too. and when i did, it was idleing all crazy and goin up and down. and when i shut it off would not start again. I checked my cables and the Negative cable the stud would not thread in enough to allow a good ground. Bought a new longer stud, and Problem solved. Hopefully might help you too....

thanks a lot guys. Maybe I jumped the gun early. I just started the car again and the idle seems perfect. I'll be taking the car out for a little while so I will keep you posted.

It could've been your idle air control valve, lots of carbon builds up in there.
