Default Changing M6 Fluid

First O ff I no this topic has been beat to death.

I have a 2000 ls1 transam. What Im wondering is I no you need some sort of ATF fluid, but is there some kinda Hydraulic fluid need when chaning it? Also where is the easiest place to fill the tranny back up at?

You can fill up the trans with the appropriate ATF fluid, no other fluid needed. You can use a hose and funnel to use the fill plug on the side of the trans, or you can take off the shifter, and pour it through the top. Takes 4 quarts if empty.

Recommend refilling from the shifter. The fill plug is a nightmare. Mobil 1 ATF is a pretty decent fluid. Don't use Dexron VI, just III. If you just want to use a regular Dexron III ATF instead of the pricier synthetics, they will be fine as well. Penzoil has a good ATF too.

Any Dexron III or equivalent ought to do.

I refilled mine using a cheap liquid transfer pump from Auto Zone.

You say fill from the shifter? Are you talking about taking the shifter off? Any pics?

Yeah, if you take the shifter off, you can fill it from the top of the trans.
