How to clean MAF?
Hi Guys, I've been doing a few routine maintenance jobs on my 2001 Z28 (air filter, fuel filter etc) and from what I've read here it looks like cleaning the MAF is something that is worth doing evey now and again.
But how do you go about doing this? Is it best to remove the whole MAF or can you just spray the cleaner into the MAF after removing the air filter and lid? If the former, is removing the MAF straightforward?
Also, I've got a can of electrical contact cleaner that I was going to use. From what I've read that seems to be the favoured alternative to the proper MAF cleaner...right?

VERY carefully for sure. Touching the wires in the MAF is a bad idea. Better to just spray and wait for the cleaner to dry, which doesn't take long. Just disconnect the bellows and spray through the screen (if still there) then wait before you start it back up. And be sure your power to the MAF is off, disconnect the wire. If you are using a straw on the can of cleaner, do not stick it through the screen.
