A few issues, help please!

A few issues, help please! My car is a 1999 WS.6 M6.
Whenever i'm just cruising around and I let off the throttle, my rpms and mph stay the same. It will hold for miles, i tested it tonight. THE CRUISE CONTROL IS NOT ON! haha thats the first thing I checked. It doesnt matter the speed or gear I am. It's done this for the past few weeks. I've had the car for 10ish months and everythings been great.
Another issue is that when im cruising say 55mph in 6th gear, rpms are 1200ish. I depress the clutch and the rpm's shoot up to about 1750 and stay there until im stopped. Even then it takes about 6-7 seconds of not moving and no throttle to idle correctly.
If im stopped the car idles fine.
The only modifications it has is a lid. As for other parts I cant vouch for since i'm not the original owner.
I would really like to pinpoint the problem the first time around as im seventeen and its a bitch just to have enough money to gas the car up.

I looked right after I got home and i didnt see anything noticeable. Ill check it out tomorrow though. Anything in particular to look for?
