Ac not cold
Ac not cold I just got an 98 z28 a few days ago, and the ac isnt blowing as cold as it should. i tried putting two little cans of freon in it with leak seal and leak finder dye. I could not find any leaks. The ac feels like it got a little colder but not as cold as it should be. do i just need more freon or could it be another problem.

The factory fill is 1.5 lbs - what were the pressures? According to the AC performance chart in my helms pressures/temps will vary depending on humidity and temp. For example:
76-85 degrees ambient, above 60% humidity: Low side 40-44 psi, high side 202-244 psi. Maximum left center discharge temp 66 degrees.

Mine is similar, it sorta works so on those humid days it at least dries the air out a bit but it isn't much of a cooling effect. But then, the compressor makes this loud whirrrrrrrr noise so maybe my compressor is shot.
I haven't bothered with the do-it-yourself recharge kits though, I've heard those are crap.

some shops may have a freon detctor and you turn on the ac and put the meter up 2 the vents and it will tell you if their is freon coming out their.
if you are friendly with a local shop they will probally do it for you for free.
it will help you track down the leak.
