I have never had a problem with this one, and you could probably find this or a similar one at any autoparts store.
you use it with a ratchet so u get more leverage.

Thanks for the link. However it is FAR too late. I demolished the filter and only the top lift is left. I have to take it to a shop to see if they can get it to budge or replace the oil pan...DAMN.

Can't you get in there with a medium pry bar at least?
Taking it to the shop will not result in anything better than what you can do your self.

yikes, this just happened to me on my 88 honda accord...i pierced it and it was so crushed i was having no luck..like you, just the top portion that threads was remaining (everything else was too crushed)
i finally had luck with a strap style ratchet tool and that did the trick

Yeah, the more you destroy it the harder it becomes to remove... Once it gave just a bit of trouble, you should have used a big set of pliers and mangled it WHILE it loosened.
Dealers man... I ******* HATE how they tighten those goddam oil filters... Sons of bitches.
K&N Oil Filters ROCK... I don't actually know how good they are, but I run K&N's only because of the protruding nut they have!
