Default Straight true duals-no H or X pipe

Hey all just wanted to get the overall opinion of going straight pipe from the front to the back under the axel. True dual with no X or H pipe.
So am I going to hear alot of people say gay or redneck? It would seem to flow better than a setup that cork screws over the axel.
So yes, no, opinions?

you are always going to get better power by balancing out the banks, its not that the gas is corkscrewing, its that pressure is more equalized. and also it should be a pretty raspy sounding exhaust as well

How you gonna get away with that in Cali? I'd go with an X-pipe, and under the axle if u don't have the extra dough to go over. Also, if you plan on going 3", I don't think many people have been able to make it fit over the axle.

Mine is 3" all the way back and under the axle.

Well this was a kinda screwed thread from the get go. All I wanted to know was the overall opinion of this setup. I actually have a friend who runs a straight true dual setup with a bullet muffler (cant remember which brand) turned backwards. It is by far the best sounding fbody Ive heard yet.

Ill get away with it the same way everyone here gets away with it. Ill pay through the nose.

Id love to hear your setup man. when are you coming through?
Again I just wanted to see what everyones reaction would be. My friend is making nearly 350 rwhp with LT's, his true duals, UD pully and LS6 intake through a built and stalled auto. Im seriously considering going back to stock height so I can run something like this.
Thanks for all the replies!

I got rid of my X-pipe and went duals. It is freaking awsome. I had a headman junction into bullets. Now one chamber proflos and it screams at WOT. at idle its better I think. The X and H are good for street cars looking to get a little more lowend tq. for all out go with those. Mine is dumped at the axle tho. I done buy into alot of hype like a bigger MAF also. But let track times tell the truth on your car. Thats where it matters. not the Dyno.

I definitely wouldn't do TD's without a crossover. You'd be destroying the very point of TD's - sound and performance.

/\ why? what is the theory behind that?
Also sound is a personal opinion and I find its dictated more by muffler and cats than anything else.

You dont need a X or H pipe to make power or to have good sound. Look at Pro Stock johns car. He has a short extention off the headers into his mufflers. Most X or H pipe setups are not even done right on the placement of the balance tubes. Go without and yes sound will also depend on muffler design. For me, I like mine better than the X setup. But its a sports car, what am I trying to hide? If I want stealth, Ide be running a Rambler on 14inch ralleys. Im used to LOTS of loud HP and Tq. More than any LS engine will ever make. SO no they are not needed.

My exhaust is setup that way, i don't think its raspy, maybe a little bit... Just 2 3" pipes off the headers into 2 borla XR1's. Here's a cold start up i didn't rev it only vid I got right now.

It is personal preference and it mostly be a choice of a more toned down rumble... and a little more back pressure, whether that makes more power or not depends on your setup.

I have TDs straight out the back under the axle with 22" bullets on the very end, tips atr actually welded to the bullets. Nice and mellow, almost quiet when cruising. Screamms like a banshee when WOT. I do have cats, maybe thats the difference.
