pulleys making noise help???
My pulleys are making noises. At idle they are fine, but when the engine is reving they make a wierd noise. Not like squeeky blets, more like bearings? Not too sure. It is also throwing a code now too and I dont know what it is though. Do you need something to read codes the engine is throwing, or can you just look at a flashing light. I havnt had problems like this before. all the help wil l be appreciated.

OK:
Nothing at idle, does it get louder and louder with rpm?
Is it the same loudness each time at the same rpm, or does it come and go?
Is it the same with a cold car or after it has been running a while?
1.What code are you getting? AutoZone can read codes for free I think.....The code may be related to the slipping belt, maybe it is a code because you are not getting enough charge.
2.Find out where the squeak is coming from. It could be bad water pump bearings, power steering pump going out,AC compressor, etc we don't know until you tell us where the noise is.
3.You can find out [CAREFULLY] by getting a few feet of heater hose, sticking one end towards your ear, and one near the noise, like a stethoscope. WARNING, you got a running engine there, don't let the hose get caught in the belts.
4.If it is not one of the accessories, maybe you have a bad bearing in the idler pulley.[That's the one in the center that doesn't seem to do anything. It just keeps tension on the belt.] There are replacements available.
Let us know what you find out.

Re: pulleys making noise help???
I spoke to my brother when I got home last night, and he checked it out. He said the noise is coming from the small pulley on the bottom. I am assuming that it is the idler pulley as it dosnt connect to, or run, anything. He is going to have a buddy look at it to make sure thats the problem. If that is the problem, what is he looking at price wise and technically, to getting her fixed?
Thanks for all your help GettnFaster
