Default 80 or 85mm tb

I am wondering what is the power difference between the two, and can I bolt an 85mm tb up to my ls6 intake manifold without any custom fabrication? They are the same price so if I can bolt it up I am going to buy the 85mm.

****, I really didn't want to have to fabricate anything. I've never done anything like that before. Is it worth it? What brand tb did you get? Or do you know if that even matters?

I failed to mention that it came with an adaptor plate that necks it down to 78mm so you have a smooth transition. I didn't want to use it because the adaptor plate would have pushed the TB out more that meant I would have to use my stock restrictive MAF tube. It is a Peformance Products 80mm TB. The tuner notice an increase in flow on the intake side but I also added MAF ends too at the same time, I don't know if it had any advantage over the stock piece because of the mild cam and stock heads but it was some sort of improvement. I can tell you that pushing on the gas is more "touchy" than before.

Well I am looking at a pro products 80mm right now. I have the slp 85mm maf so I wonder if I would have to go back to stock although I don't have a smooth bellow or anything like that. I was just hoping that I could buy one and bolt it up.

Just check w/ the seller. I know that the Summit 85mm TB comes w/ an adapter that necks down to match the intake inlet, as well. So there would be no fab work. Why go 80mm when you can go 85mm for the same price? Further, you'd already have a larger TB for any potential future larger intake changes.
