i'd just wait until you cam it. otherwise you are opening yourself up to many problems.
What the hell are you talking about. Sadly misinformed.

i have never heard an arguement that headers arent worth it on a stock car. better flow but more importantly sets yourself up for the future, and no one has brought up the sound aspect either yet. i do see what you are trying to say though,

my vote actually goes to LPP headers for clearance, and you get stainless for pretty much same price as pacesetter, cant deny that

and i almost forgot the y-pipe. go custom if you want clearance, that way you KNOW its fit to YOUR car. dont trust a premade pipe

i'm just trying to show the other side of the coin. it's going to cost AT LEAST $500 to do it right. i never said headers offer no gain, i said i don't think they are worth the money on an otherwise stock car. my experiences and those of my friends prove that headers are not needed to be "fast" or loud, or whatever it is the op is trying to achieve.

what kind of mileage did/do your untuned header cars get? what do they weigh and trap? headers aren't worth the effort IMHO.

you'll be over $500 with headers and a tune to trap what a manifold car would with an ory. you'll have less clearance than manifolds for everything engine/exhaust related and not have an excuse when a damn near stock ls1fbod is door to door with ya.

i think headers are great, but they have their time and place. a bolt-on car with no other mods is not the place.

edit: fyi - you will pick up the same on a 100 shot, headers or not.
IDK dude, I've easily beat lots of LS1's when i only head headers, ORY, and catback. And that's with 2.73 gearing which people think is so terrible.

Don't tell me they don't make a big difference. Maybe you are talking JUST LT's but who changes long tubes and not change out the rest of the exhaust, that doesn't make much sense to me.

my experience...from the drag strips around indiana. my lid/ory/FLOWMASTER muffler only car on the stock tune consistently traps 108-109. this is a 99 m6 car with LITERALLY no performance mods other than a pro5.0 shifter and short stick. nothing pulled out of it, even has a baby seat in the back hah. there are full exhaust cars here doing the same..some considerably slower. my car still gets 25+mpg, on the stock tune, i know it would increase with tuning. i also know the car would be faster with tuning. so what gives? i beat full exhaust cars haha what's your point?

I say regardless if you do it early or later it will help in the future. But as for people who want results now, the sound is more than enough to compensate the effort, at least for me... So what I see is win/win...
