Default Stock tail pipe size on a 2002 WS6?

I need to replace the original exhaust system including the intermediate pipe, muffler and tail pipes on my 2002 WS6 Trans Am. I want to go back with a stock type system. Problem is the muffler shop, parts store and even a GM dealer says my original tail pipes are 2.25 OD; I know for a fact that I had to get 2.5 ID exhaust tips to fit over the existing original tail pipes. Further more, where the tip went on appeared to be the smallest tube diameter of the tail pipe. So I am confused. I believe the original WS6 tail pipes must be at least a 2.5 OD. Could someone confirm what the original tail pipe OD is on a WS6? Does the WS6 have a different size tail pipe than a non-WS6?

wasn't aware the tail pipe sizes were different.

but if the originals were 2.25 ID...that makes the outside somewhere between 2.25 and 2.5"....maybe that's why you needed a 2.5 ID connector to slide over the outside.

just so you know....summit racing sells the dynomax 3" ipipe and over axle pipe all by themselves.

chose the muffler and tips you want...

why pay for factory orginal 2.75" setup when you can upgrade?
