Default One poly engine mount?

I've had LT's on my car for 3 years with no issues, but since I installed a cam the drivers side header now sometimes rubs the k member due to the engine shaking at idle. I was going to pull the d/s header off to grind down where it rubs and touch up the place on the header where the coating wore off. I was thinking that while I had the header out I would replace the d/s motor mount with a Prothane poly piece, but really don't want to pull the pass. side off too. (#$@%! #8 spark plug!) Would It cause any problems or increase vibration to run just one poly mount?

Shouldn't have an issue running one poly/one stock - keep the second around and put it in once you're ready.

It won't hurt anything. The pass side is a little easier to swap out though, I'd prob go ahead and do both.

I've heard a lot of people run only the drivers side poly mount because the passengers side really doesn't make a difference.

The passenger side does make a difference but some might get away with only doing one side. I did the driver's side first and my Y still hit just not quite as often. So I did the passenger side and it seems to have made the difference.

I started doing my motor mounts and by the time I was done with the driver's side I was pissed off enough that I said screw the other one. I only did it to stop my exhaust from banging and the one mount did that.

of course not but it will move the other way. go check it out. thats how you check which motor mount is bad. load the engine in a forward gear then load it in reverse.

The driver side of the engine tries to come up under acceleration and the passenger side presses down. The weight of the engine already has the passenger side pressed down so yes, the driver side mount does the most to control engine movement.

thats what I figured- the drivers side does the most. I will just wait until winter when the car is put up to do the pass side along with a bunch of suspension mods

Do it right the first time and swap out both mounts. It is a PITA, but thats the price we pay for our cars.

...and WTF is this about reverse and the passangers side motor mount?
My god, the crap that turns up on here sometimes!
