X-merge before cats or vice-versa?

X-merge before cats or vice-versa?

What gives the best performance advantage?

I read that the X-merge closest to the headers is best for scavenging effect.

But I also read that placing cats closer to the heads help the converters effectiveness.

So what's the best?

I noticed that LG Long Tube headers/exhaust system places the X-merge after the optional cats.

Anyone have insight on this?

you want the X (merge) to be as close as to the motor as possible for better scavenging effects...

If you run both, the cats need to be closer to the engine. Whileas the x being closer is better for scavenging, if you move the cats that far back they are useless and you may as well not have them.
