Default Cutouts

Im thinking about switching over to a more quiet exhaust. The LMII i have right now sounds awesome but its not the most liveable exhaust. I personally dont mind it but ive had a couple of complaints about the car so i think I may end up swapping over to a more conservative sounding set of pipes. Ive also heard that I will get better performance out of something else, like a magnaflow system.

Im all for better performance but i wont lie, sometimes i really like to get on it and hear her scream. This makes me think that cutouts right before the mufflers would be a good solution. Will the cutouts have any negative affect on performance? With them open I should see a bit more top end from what i understand, but with them closed i worry that they would restrict flow more than a straight pipe.

Anyone got any insight into this? Also, if there are any brands i should stay away from, or any brands i should look for, i would greatly appreciate the advice. Im only looking at manuals, remote would be cool but theyre an unecassary luxury, and ive heard bad things about reliability.

Thanks,

SM

the electronic cutouts look cool but ive heard so many bad things about reliability. That and every one i look at is like $150 for a single cutout. Also that just another electronic thing to go wrong/add weight to the car...

Ill look into the flowtechs though.

im getting myself a catback after the new year. you can have my old stock catback. its got a custom cutout right after the axle before the muffler. works great. very quiet even with LTs and an ORY but when i uncap the cutout its SICK!!!!!!!!!

there is a bit more top end and then closed its a bit more responsive down low. the reason im changing it is because its open 99% of the time.

thats mostly QTP. I've looked too. The DMH ones are the best just search a thread on em. If you can deal with going under your car and taking the cover off each time then its best you get get the manual one. however I change my mind constantly lol.. "stealth mode"

stealth mode gets boring quick. these cars should sound as aggressive as they look. T/As anyway :p

Im in the same situation, looking for an e-cutout to add to the car. When i install my LT's, & ORY. Keeping stock CME exhaust, has a nice lil tone to it now. Im sure it'll get louder with LT's & ORY.

DMH electric cutout here, and I love it! I also change my mind all the time, and like to quite it down (with the switch) once in a while, espcially if I see a cop coming up behind me.

I also like driving and coming to a stop light in stealth mode. Then while I'm idling at the red light and the mustang is next to me, I'llopen the cutout on the spot. Cant really hear the differnace at idle, but when that light turns green, I can see the mustang driver mouthing the words WFT.

...priceless.

Exactly! Yes that's the beauty of an e-cutout!

I have a QTP Electric Cutout, haven't had a problem with it yet..

I have a Magnaflow Muffler with Dual Tips that pretty quiet with my 402, but once I open that Cutout, it insane, pretty much sounds like you are at the Track. It really throws people off..

I have the QTP cutout for like 4-5 years i believe. Great product. Cant say the same about DMH. Freinds went with them with the so called warranty. When it broke it took them forever to get in touch. There supports sucks. Go with QTP, they support the site
