Default Is it possible to use a Trans Am lower air box on an SS?

Im not sure if thats the correct name for it, but it supports the radiator/condenser. Its the bottom portion of the air box. The lid slides on top of it. Anyhow, Ive noticed that the Trans Ams, WS-6s, etc. have bigger openings in the front and I wanted to know if you could use it on an SS? Mine is broke at the moment, and I need to replace it anyway. I didnt know if it was the front opening that was bigger or its the entire piece. The only thing that I can think of that it wouldnt fit is the height of the entire piece. I dont see why it would be any different, only the opening. Is it possible to use the lower air box/radiator support on Camaro SS? If so but requires modifying, what must me done? Thanks and any help is appreciated.

No, only with an SLP Ultra Z hood.

Theres nothing that you can do to the Trans Am lower air box to make it work? Are there any differences between the Trans Am, WS-6, Firehawk, Formula, etc. lower box? Why doesnt it work anyway? Have you already tried? Im not in the market for an Ultra Z hood, but Im sure someone has come up with a way to make it work. Thanks

No it wont work, its too tall. my lid rubs already. it doesnt work, and why do you want it? if you have FTRA it doesnt even matter if your airbox is raised.

The original one is broken and Ive tried a couple of times to fix it with epoxy, but everything is out of whack now, so its time for a new one. I didnt know if I should replace it with a Camaro piece or one from a Trans Am. I thought it might help a little with a bigger opening. I actually run both, I do not have the front one sealed off. Will it be better if I was to block/seal the front one off and totally cut off the air flow from the hood, leaving on air flow coming from the FTRA? Regardless, I needed a new one and I wanted to know if I could run one with or without modifying. Thanks

The WS-6 has a 2in. opening, and the rest have a 1/2 or 3/4 inch or so opening. The T/A, Firehawk, Formula, Z28, and SS use the same lower box. Only the WS-6 got the big box.

Thanks for the info, that sure clears things up a bit.

You need more hood space for the higher rising WS6 air lid assembly.

So all of them are the same, the only one that differs from all the various Camaros and Firebirds, is the ones that have the WS-6 package?

That is correct. Well, not to mention the Firehawks.

Actually.. Firehawks have the smaller one from the factory

WS6 box is unique to the WS6
