Intake manifold

Do you need to take out the motor to change the intake manifold and change the knock sensors?

No, not needed at all. The knock sensors are under the intake on the valley plate/cover that is bolted to the block.

Its a fairly easy swap as well, just take your time.

You can pull the Intake with the Engine in, it's just a little tight..

Yep, you can pull the intake w/o dropping the motor. Just make sure you have a fuel line disconnect tool

I did what he's ^^^ saying without the disconnect tool. Basically how LS1howto.com tells you how to do it. I've had to do it twice now and the first time took about 3 hours from start to finish and the second only took 1 1/2 hours. So take your time. Taking it off will be hard and putting it back on should be easier. Good luck and let us know if you run into any problems.
