exhaust bypass elbow?

exhaust bypass elbow? Has anyone done this mod, to there LS1-F-body?
A lot of LT1 guys did it, the SLP LT1 SS camaros with the slp duel duel exhause would cut two holes in each pipe and weld a 1.5-1 3/4" elbow between the main 3" exhaust pipe and the muffler out duel tip pipe,
I did this to my 97 SS , didnt make the car that much louder, but freed up and exhaust back pressure that the muffler would produce under high loads.
Was thinking on doing this to my 01 SS now that is supercharged and getting a forged LS6 with 15 PSI of boost .
Let me know how it sounded and if power increased do to this mod
