Default Installed Headers, Now a Ticking sound??

I just installed a set of coated Pacesetters, with the TSP Y pipe, and when i first started it it was fine with no sounds but the nice sound of the v8... After about 3 days now at idle my car is ticking, It also is very noticable from under the car or if i am idling in the garage or in a parking lot next to a car. If i am under the hood you cant really hear it at all.
I think i will try and get a video to see if you can hear it, but it is really bothering me i though it was just a leak so i band clamped all of the connections and it is still there. My motor never made any noises before it is a 2000 Ws6 with 35k miles on it. If anyone has any ideas let me know i cant stand hearing it.

The ticking would be an exhaust leak, almost guaranteed! Your header gaskets had the chance to heat up, seating themself in even more, causing the gasket to become loose. Retighten all of your header bolts, and see what happens. If that doesn't work, track down the noise on your exhaust and tighten that part up. Could also have kinked your header gasket, and now its leaking and no amount of tightening would fix that.....

Headers also increase valvetrain noise in the collectors, the stock manifolds reduced the sounds very well.

It's possible you just didn't notice the noise before.Pacesetters are very thin steel and sometimes you just hear the ticking of the exhaust thru the thin metal. People have complained about it before with Paces.

I had a friend who put a pacesetter header on his 04 cavalier, and it did the same thing. It ended up being a leak up by the gasket. +1 to checking bolts and gasket.

I had the same problem with my pacesetters when I put them on my 02 WS6. At the time of install my car had about 2,800 miles on it and sounded great. I had the headers put on and instantly noticed a kind of ticking sound or more like a fluttering sound. I had replaced gaskets from stock to the copper looking gasket and had a bad leak on the last cylinder on the drivers side. I changed gaskets back to the stock paper ones and put locking bolts on and havent had a issue yet.
I personally think that the Pacesetters are a ok set of headers. They are about to be replaced with QTP's that I ordered yesterday. I cant wait!

A buddy of mine had his blow a gasket shortly after install too. He eventually went with stock gaskets again too. No problems since them.

Also, just in case you haven't checked, make sure a plug wire didn't come loose, and that you're not arcing somewhere on the car. That happened to me once and it had a "ticking" sound.

Did you do heat cycles when you tightened the Bolts?

I few months ago I bought some pacesetters from byunspeed, all the bolts were too long. I never said anything about it, I just pulled a bolt out of my other car and looked. They needed 3/16" thick washers to match the length of the right bolts.

It could just be this. My car does the same thing there aren't any leaks anywhere, and you can barely hear it when under the hood.

your welcome to swing by and check out my car, as i believe your local. i have pacesetters and have had the same noise your describing the whole time i've had them(3 years). i've changed gaskets, tightened bolts, and finally had the collectors welded to the x pipe with no change. if your noise is the same as mine, i'm afraid your gonna have to live with it
